Bike riders saddled with diversions
CYCLISTS became additional victims to recent flooding.
This picture shows their path on a key route blocked after the banks of the Great Stour in Ashford burst.
Road safety campaigner Ted Prangnell found this as he cycled on National Cycle Route 18, which runs parallel to the river and under the M20 near junction 9.
Mr Prangnell took the picture on Tuesday, November 24, during a month of continual downpours and floods.
He said: “That path became flooded a couple of times and it meant both cyclists and pedestrians had to go over the Canterbury Road M20 bridge instead, which is dangerous to cyclists.”
