IT MAY have looked like a hairy caterpillar stuck to his top lip but reporter Luke Hollands’ moustache has raised £100 for charity.

He grew the offending item as part of a global charity campaign to raise funds to fight prostate cancer and generally raise awareness of men’s health issues.

The month-long campaign, Movember, encourages men across the world to be sponsored for growing moustaches in November.

Luke said: “Growing a moustache may seem like an easy way to raise cash but it’s amaz- ing how much fuss a big bristly ‘tache can cause.

“During the past month I’ve been stared at, pointed at, laughed at, and shouted at.

“A group of school children harassed me.

“A man in Shrewsbury called me gay and a bunch of girls spent a train ride to London laughing at me.

“But at the end of the day it’s been amazing to raise money for such a worthy cause and to have an excuse to grow a massive manly moustache as well.”
