Country adopts Alison’s guidelines
SOUTH Kent College exams expert, Alison Coley, is the author of new guidelines being circulated for staff in schools and colleges across the country.
The Qualifications and Curriculum Development Agency (QCDA) has just published the Functional Skills Toolkit, and one of the guidelines in it was written by Mrs Coley, who has worked for South Kent College for nearly 25 years, but has specialised in exams since 2001.
South Kent College principal Monica Box said: “This shows how our business support staff can, and do, lead the way in developing systems and procedures that support effective administration of learning.”
Functional Skills are consid- ered essential elements to equip students for work and life and consist of English, Maths and ICT. They replace ‘key skills’ from September 2010.
Mrs Coley’s guidelines help staff make sure students are entered for exams on time.
