Ladies maintain fine run
ASHFORD Ladies recorded their second successive 4-0 victory when they travelled to Meopham on Saturday.
The result took them to the top of the Kent Women’s Premier Division, just ahead of Sevenoaks 3A on goals scored.
Both teams have a goal difference of plus 20 but Ashford have managed one more goal than their opponents.
Saturday’s win was Ashford’s fifth in a row during which time they have scored 19 goals while conceding just two and they took control from the start against Meopham, with forwards Kim Cameron and Kate Reed having a few early shots on target.
Ashford went ahead when Karina Greensmith beat four players before tucking away the first goal.
Soon after, some superb passing by Megan Thomas and Sophie Hunt set up Reed for number two.
Then another drive from midfield saw player-of-the-match Emily Whittaker fire home from the top of the D.
Captain Hayley Richards then rounded off another good day for Ashford when she deflected in a short corner.
Ashford are at mid-table Holcombe 2nds this Saturday.
ASHFORD bowed out of the EH Women’s Vase on Sunday when they went down 5-2 at home to Worthing in their second round tie.
