FOLKESTONE’S reshaped side, further hampered by injuries on the day, struggled against Park House in London 3 South East on Saturday.

Prop Mart Korgesaar injured his back in the warm-up and lasted only five minutes before he had to be replaced by youngster Josh Martin.

In the second half, Folkestone lost hooker Jak Cox to a shoulder injury which saw him taken off to hospital.

Mat Roots and Richard Lama withdrew from the squad on Friday night, which meant that head coach Lee Jeffery – already without key players such as Harris, Baxter, Battershill, Gamble, Oswald, Woolford and Tolman – had to bring in re-inforcements .

Folkestone took the lead through a Keith Green penalty but conceded a try when a Park House player eased through the visitors’ defence from 60 yards out to score. The conversion made it 7-3.

Folkestone, who had three players yellow carded in the game against niggly opponents, seemed to lose their discipline and a penalty made it 10-3 to Park House at the interval.

The home side were successful with two more penalties to finish worthy winners.

Folkestone will be looking for a big improvement when they take on Brighton at home on Saturday. (kickoff 2.15pm).

THE second team’s fixture away to Tunbridge Wells 2nd was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Folkestone 3rds were pipped 17-16 by Faversham 1sts in Shepherd Neame MasterBrew East Kent 1.

The 4ths were beaten 27-12 by Whitstable 4ths in Shepherd Neame Hurlimann East Kent 2.
