He said: “When you give teams goals, then you don’t de­serve to win. On Satur­day we gave them three goals and that left us need­ing four.

“It is in­di­vid­ual er­rors, peo­ple not pick­ing up their run­ners or mark­ing prop­erly. There’s noth­ing I can do about it ex­cept make them aware of their mis­takes.

“Met Po­lice are usu­ally good but we got a draw up there and if we can cut out the er­rors, hope­fully we can do even bet­ter.”

He added: “I can’t fault the work rate or ef­fort from the play­ers on Satur­day but it was just the in­di­vid­ual mis­takes. It was par­tic­u­larly dis­ap­point­ing af­ter the last two away per­for­mances.”

Lovell also said he felt Town would im­prove once they were back to full­strength.

He said: “We have a lot of cru­cial play­ers miss­ing. When they get back we’ll be fine.”

Nick Smith is sus­pended for Satur­day while Paul Jones, Toby Ash­more and Scott Chalmers-Stevens re­main side­lined.
