Village’s seasonal lights put others in the shade
CHARING’S own celebrities launched the village’s Christmas festivities.
Comedian Vic Reeves, with wife Nancy Sorrell and their twin daughters, helped trigger the formal launch of the Christmas countdown in their community.
The event was organised by a quartet of fundraisers, known as the Ladies of the Lights, whose legendary fundraising has paid for the village’s lights for the past 11 years.
Their efforts meant Charing was one of county’s best lit-up villages in time for Friday’s magical evening that they organised. Visitors and villagers were able to enjoy refreshments stalls while admiring the lights, and also visit craft and gift stalls in the barn.
The Ladies of the Lights are Anita Gudge, Margaret Sage, Linda Andrews and Anne Winograd.
