‘We saw the money and handed it in’
HONESTY is definitely the best policy as far as Julie Bowles and her daughter Abbie are concerned.
The mum and daughter, who live in Godinton Park, have been identified as the Good Samaritans who handed in a purse containing another girl’s birthday money.
We reported a fortnight ago how Victoria Redfern, 10, pictured right, and her mum Lisa were shopping at the Park Farm Tesco when Victoria discovered she’d lost her purse containing £55 in cash that she’d been given by her grandparents for her birthday.
The couple returned to their Park Farm home, where a thorough search failed to find the purse.
So mum and daughter dashed back to the Tesco helpdesk and to their delight discovered someone had handed in Victoria’s purse, with all the cash still inside it.
The finders were Mrs Bowles and Abbie, seven, who contacted the Kentish Express to say they were the purse’s finders.
Mrs Bowles explained: “We were doing the weekly shop. We were in the car park when Abbie spotted the purse. We looked inside and saw the money and thought we had better hand it in.
“It was nice to see the girl get her money back.”
