Julie Rose stadium staff facing threat of job cuts
TWO out of 15 jobs are under threat at Ashford’s Julie Rose Stadium.
Managers are proposing the redundancies as the recession continues to bite and the consultation period with staff ends tomorrow .
The two posts threatened are in administration and the duty officer section.
Emma Wood, chief executive of managers Ashford Leisure Trust, said: “Like everyone we have been affected by the economic climate.
“But this is also to reflect seasonal use and the level of demand at this time of year.”
Mrs Wood stressed this was a separate issue from the turmoil the stadium was in last March when it was on the brink of closure.
Funding was cut by Ashford Borough Council and a replacement agreement for the operation of the centre was still unsigned days before the expiry of the old one.
Hundreds of people campaigned to prevent closure and the centre was saved after the council offered more money and took the lease from the Julie Rose Stadium Trust.
