Readers’ generosity always amazes us
ONCE again, the response of Kentish Express readers to our Christmas appeal has been overwhelming. Hundreds of toys and other goodies have been dropped into our North Street offices by kind-hearted readers since we launched the Christmas Present Appeal with the Salvation Army at the end of last month. The first batch was collected this week by Val Barclay from the charity, who was delighted to drive away a car full of gifts to give to those who most need them. We said when the appeal was launched that the generosity of our readers – even in tough economic times – never ceases to amaze us. This year has been no exception. A sincere thank you to everyone who has made the appeal such a success. Your kindness will a help to so many people in need over Christmas. If you want to make a donation it’s still not too late and gifts can be brought along to our office until the end of the week. Details of how you can help are in our story on the opposite page. Mark Scott, the Salvation Army’s senior leader in Ashford, said he felt encouraged and blessed that so many people thought to give to others at Christmas. We couldn’t agree more.
