GUIDES uniforms through the ages brought a historical perspective to their centenary gift service at St Mary’s Church in Ashford at the weekend. Some of the girls and their leaders were dressed in uniforms from the past, and they also showed toys from the past to reflect 100 years of guiding at Christmas. The service was attended by Ashford MP Damian Green, and the collection will be split between children’s hospice Demelza House and the Ashford-based charity Find A Voice. Donated gifts will be given to the Salvation Army, local nursing homes and social services.
