Fitting reward for top students
MP DAMIAN Green was among guests at the Towers Schools awards evening. A total of 150 students at the school in Kennington, Ashford, were presented with individual awards by Mr Green and chairman of governors, Rita Hawes. Mr Green told them: “I am really impressed not only by the improvement in the exam results but the wide range of other activities that the students take part in. “Both the students and the staff are working really hard, and it shows. Those who knock Kent’s schools should come to the Towers to see what is really happening. “ The Towers Academy Of Performing Arts provided the evening’s entertainment. Amy Velvick (Year 12) sang What If and Fern Murphy (Year 8) gave a flute solo performance of Faure’s Sicilienne. The Senior Singers performed a four part harmony of Queen’s Somebody to Love. Head teacher Malcolm Ramsey spoke of the achievements of the past year and referred to a recent visit by inspectors which described the school as excellent.
