SIX-YEAR-OLD football fan George Ward, from Kennington, couldn’t have got closer to his heroes at the weekend – he was one of the mascots that walked out onto the Old Trafford pitch with Manchester United’s Brazilian ace Anderson. Sadly, he couldn’t cheer a United victory after their shock 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa. But he is hoping to bring Ashford Town better fortune when he joins his Ashford Borough under-seven team mates as mascots for the forthcoming Town game against Croydon Athletic at Homelands. George got the chance to visit Manchester United when his father Andy won a magazine competition.
