Unbeaten run ended

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - New Homes -

ASHFORD’S four-match unbeaten run in South League Premier Division 2 came to an end with a 2-1 defeat at High Wycombe.

The visitors looked jaded from the start and if it was not for the man-of-the-match performance by goalkeeper Keir Starley, they would have lost more heavily.

Ashford went behind when the home side passed through their defence to set up a diving tip-in.

Rob Playford then equalised from a penalty corner after good work by Andy Hill.

The game then fell flat for 20 minutes but High Wycombe secured the three points when they were awarded a debatable penalty.

As a result of thwe defeat, Ashford dropped to fifth place going into the Christmas break but they are still very much in the promotion mix.

ASHFORD under-14s won a thrilling game against Kent League leaders Bromley & Beckenham by the odd goal in seven at Ball Lane on Sunday.

Matthew Missons netted the opening goal and despite the visitors equalising, two quick goals from Milo Holland and Nathan Heacote put Ashford in control.

After half-time, BromBecks pulled another goal back but Ronan Taggart restored the twogoal head.

The visitors pulled back to 4-3 to set-up a nervous finale but the hosts held on to end the first half of the season on a high.

Graham Bingham clears for Ashford 4ths against Gore Court 4ths, while Richards Junior and Senior look on. Ashford won the Kent Open Premier B game 3-1
