School’s cup success
SKIPPER and No.8 Tom Snares capped an impressive performance with a hat-trick as Norton Knatchbull under15s lifted the Kent Shield for the first time by beating Lewisham opponents Northbrook 27-5 in the final at Gravesend.
The two schools, making their first appearance at this stage of the competition, both contributed to a well contested and sporting match, despite dreadful weather. Jay Parker and Ian Balfour got the other tries, with Bradley Pearson adding a conversion.
Norton led 17-0 at half-time, with Northbrook captain Roches Dogba leading from the front with long kicking and strong running.
Two more tries stretched Norton’s advantage, before Abu Kamara scored Northbrook’s only try.
Norton had beaten Harvey Grammar School 22-10 in the semi-finals.
Lewis Howland (two) and one each by Tom Snare and Tom Williams helped Norton to victory, as they came from behind twice to level at 10-10 by half-time. Williams and Howland added further tries, one converted by Bradley Pearson.
