SKIP­PER and No.8 Tom Snares capped an im­pres­sive per­for­mance with a hat-trick as Nor­ton Knatch­bull un­der15s lifted the Kent Shield for the first time by beat­ing Lewisham op­po­nents North­brook 27-5 in the fi­nal at Gravesend.

The two schools, mak­ing their first ap­pear­ance at this stage of the com­pe­ti­tion, both con­trib­uted to a well con­tested and sport­ing match, de­spite dread­ful weather. Jay Parker and Ian Bal­four got the other tries, with Bradley Pear­son adding a con­ver­sion.

Nor­ton led 17-0 at half-time, with North­brook cap­tain Roches Dogba lead­ing from the front with long kick­ing and strong run­ning.

Two more tries stretched Nor­ton’s ad­van­tage, be­fore Abu Ka­mara scored North­brook’s only try.

Nor­ton had beaten Har­vey Gram­mar School 22-10 in the semi-fi­nals.

Lewis How­land (two) and one each by Tom Snare and Tom Wil­liams helped Nor­ton to victory, as they came from be­hind twice to level at 10-10 by half-time. Wil­liams and How­land added fur­ther tries, one con­verted by Bradley Pear­son.
