Victoria reign supreme

A SURPRISING number of league games went ahead at the weekend despite the awful weather conditions.
In the county cup competitions, all of the Junior Trophy ties involving the league’s teams were played.
Ashford Victoria proved too strong for Mersham Reserves, going through 4-1 with goals by Jack Bundock (2), Joe Mart and Luke Walder. Marsh Athletic also went through 4-1 at Whitfield, with Warren Smith scoring a hat-trick.
Newchurch won 4-3 at Stonecross Phoenix. Lee Jackman bagged a brace to add to two own goals. Kennington Reserves, however, lost 3-2 to Barming Youth, with Matt Johnson and Adam Davies netting for Kennington.
In the Junior Cup, Brewmaster Reserves took the lead with a Simon Bourne goal against Maidstone League side Excel but were beaten 5-1.
The Aldington against South Celtic tie was postponed in the Junior Cup, as were all of the Premier Cup games.
Churchill Royals continue to go well in Division 1 with a 3-2 win over Ashford Dynamo, thanks to goals from Paul Abb (2) and Ben Harden.
Market Hotel Reserves swept to a 5-1 home win over Egerton & Pluckley United through strikes from Chris Petts (2), Glen Rolf (2) and Paul Rossitter.
In Division 2, Bromley Green Reserves kept up their push for promotion with a 6-2 home win over Wye Monarchs. Lee Bloxham led the way with a hat-trick against his former club.
The one game to take place in Division 3 saw Ashford Eagles win 3-1 against Burton Grove. Phil Reed, Stuart Wilson and James Lewis were their marksmen.
In Division 4, Troggs Reserves won 4-1 against Charing Reserves through Marcus Pearce, Dave Collins and two own goals.
Holders Lydd moved into the semi-finals of the Division 1 Cup by beating Galacticos 2-0 after extra-time, with Ricky Bingham and John Williams on target.
Man of Kent booked their Division 4 Cup semi-final place with a 2-1 win over Givaudan. through goals from Ben Hearden and Mick Lockyer.
