Mystery of tragic mum
A MAN arrested over the suspected murder of his wife was released after police accepted she had died accidentally, an inquest heard.
But a coroner said there were still unanswered questions over the death of Margaret Penny, 40, who died after falling down stairs at her home in Hamstreet on January 25.
Det Ch Insp Michael Atkinson told the hearing that there had been an extensive investigation
He said: “There was no evidence that Mr Penny caused fatal injuries to his wife.”
Recording an open verdict, coroner Rachel Redman said: “I still feel I have some questions that cannot be answered.”
Husband Paul Penny explained that he had held her around the neck and shoulders to stop her fall but ended up tumbling with her.
