New M20 bridge idea wins public support
PLANS for the M20/Drovers roundabout improvements have got a public thumbs-up.
Eighty-two per cent of respondents to a public consultation said the changes, including a new foot/cycle bridge over the M20 near Ashford’s junction 9, were a good idea for the town.
And 81 per cent said the scheme would make it easier and safer to travel across town by car, foot and bicycle.
Ninety-two per cent said the new bridge would provide a better, safer crossing for pedestrians and cyclists and 79 per cent said it would provide an impressive welcome and entry point to Ashford.
The results were reported to Ashford Joint Transportation Board’s meeting.
They come from a total of 82 survey forms completed at an exhibition of the proposals at Ashford International Hotel in November.
