Rewarding those who give service with smile
AN AWARD scheme that recognises staff who go the extra mile is calling for nominations.
The Pride in Ashford and Tenterden Tourism Awards recognise customer service staff who go out of their way to help and provide a warm welcome to visitors and residents alike.
The awards are organised by Visit Kent at Kent County Council working with Ashford Borough Council, Ashford Town Centre Partnership and the Ashford and Tenterden Tourism Association.
This year visitors have been filling in nomination forms for people they’ve received good service from in hotels, B&Bs, attractions, shops and restaurants.
Urging people to enter is one of last year’s winners – Ron Beer, 66, of Kingsnorth who won the catering employee of the year award and the overall Pride in Ashford and Tenterden award for Exceptional Customer Service.
Mr Beer said: “I’m the park manager at Broadhembury Holiday Park in Kingsnorth and I’ve worked in the tourism industry for nine years. Customer service is really important because without customers we wouldn’t have any work.”
The deadline for nominations is Friday, February 26 and the awards will be presented in March. Kerstin Beeching, of Visit Kent, said: “We have lots of nominations from visitors but we would like more local residents to put forward the names of the people they know who always go that extra mile to give excellent service.”
Nomination forms are available from Ashford Visitor Information Centre, 18 The Churchyard, Ashford, or by calling Visit Kent on 01622 696936, email email@example.com or online at www.visitkent.co.uk/ prideawards
