ASHFORD will soon be marketed with the likes of Alaska, Bethlehem and Springfield as the council signs up with a New York public relations company to promote the town and its businesses. Council leader Paul Clokie said the council was excited to be launching the new online service that he said will have “a significant impact on the promotion of the borough”. ABC has entered into a threeyear agreement with CGI Communications, a company based in Rochester, New York, that provides promotions across the globe. The company will produce a series of online videos highlighting what Ashford has to offer its residents, visitors and businesses. A council spokesman said the videos would not cost the council any money, adding: “CGI is working with a number of other councils in the UK to help develop community films, and we hope to see our video completed in the spring of 2010. We are in the process of developing it.” Cllr Clokie added: “Their video showcase will engage viewers in learning more about area attractions, economic development opportunities, quality of life and so much more. “As a council we are committed to highlighting the advantages of living and working in Ashford and we feel that this programme can do just that.”
