AN Ashford family are looking forward to the new year a remarkable 16 stone lighter.

Mum Susan Wake and her son Stuart and daughter Emma joined the Ashford Slimming World group seven months ago.

And their efforts have borne fruit with 23-year-old Stuart leading the way having lost a tremen- dous nine stone and going from a 50in waist to a 38in.

Susan has shed a splendid five stone five-and-a-half pounds while Emma has reached her target weight by losing two stone 4lb.

Along with their fantastic weight losses it has had a knockon effect on the wider family with both Susan’s husband and Emma’s husband losing weight as well.

“They look amazing,” said organiser Julia Males.

As their sizes have shrunk their confidence has rocketed. Susan said: “It’s lovely being able to go into any clothes shop and find something to fit now that I am a size 14 and not a 24.”

And Stuart now enjoys attending the gym which, he says, would be something he would never have contemplated before.

Julia Males is opening a new morning group in Ashford town centre at the Centrepiece church hall on Wednesday, January 6.

Her current group meet at Wyvern School every Tuesday evening.
