Hospices can gain from weight loss
SLIMMERS hoping to shed a few extra pounds in the New Year can help to raise cash for the Pilgrims Hospices in a new campaign. The Love Yourself slimming challenge, supported by east Kent GPs, slimming and health clubs, is hoping to give dieters a little extra motivation by helping the hospices in Ashford, Canterbury and Thanet. Nigel Donkin, Pilgrims Hospices’ regional fundraising manager, said: “I have been meaning to lose weight and get fit for a long time and this great incentive has given me the push I needed. “For every pound I lose I will get sponsorship and help provide vital funds for the patients, carers and families who use the services of Pilgrims Hospices.” Dieters raising the most sponsorship could win a make-over by Clarins at Debenhams in Ashford, Canterbury or Westwood Cross, and there will be a giveaway of 10 Buff Headwear items every month. To join the challenge, download a sponsorship form from www.pilgrims hospice.org or visit the Pilgrims Hospice shop on Castle Street, Ashford, or the hospice on Hythe Road to pick one up.
A Tree of Love service to remember loved ones who have died was held at the Ashford hospice on December 12.
