Man bailed af­ter po­lice drugs raid

THOU­SANDS of pounds worth of cannabis plants have been dis­cov­ered at a house in Willing­don in Wash­ford Farm, Ash­ford.

Po­lice raided the home on the af­ter­noon of Sun­day, April 25, af­ter re­ports of a strong smell of the drug was com­ing from the house.

One res­i­dent, who did not want to be named, said: “I heard all this crash­ing and bang­ing and then I saw the po­lice com­ing out with all these big plas­tic bags and trays full of plants.

“There was about three or four po­lice cars here and a big van. They stayed most of the day bring­ing stuff out of the house.”

In­side 250 plants were dis­cov­ered along with cul­ti­va­tion equip­ment used to grow the Class B drug.

Win­dows are of­ten cov­ered and elec­tri­cal boxes by­passed to en­sure the plants re­ceive heat and light for 24 hours of the day.

Po­lice say a 38-year-old man was ar­rested at the scene and has been bailed pend­ing fur­ther in­quiries.
