A FATHER-OF-TWO narrowly avoided going to jail after repeatedly exposing himself in front of young girls.

Peter Stubbing would appear totally naked at his front door as they walked past his house.

On two occasions he was also seen by adults touching himself outside his door.

Chairman of the bench David Gilbert told him: “This has passed the custody threshold because it was more than one offence.”

But Ashford magistrates on Wednesday last week gave him a suspended sentence and put him on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.

They had also heard that Stubbing was under strain from over-working to pay off debts and his marriage had ended.

Stubbing, 47, admitted three counts of indecently exposing himself between last October 1 and January 20.

Behaviour

Sara Jones, prosecuting, said these were specimen charges as these incidents happened a number of times.

She said he would open his front door at Langney Drive, Washford Farm, Ashford, and expose himself when girls of school age walked past and his behaviour was reported by two girls.

She said: “It had happened two or three times a week since Christmas. He would stand by his door naked. When boys walked past he did not do it.”

A statement from one teenage girl read out in court said Stubbing’s behaviour had scared her and thought it was “creepy and weird”.

Another girl said in a statement; “I wasn’t worried or upset but I thought he was a bit weird.”

Mrs Jones said on two occasions two adults saw Stubbing also ordered to attend a sex offender programme for two years.

In addition he was given two prohibited activity orders, to appear properly covered up at his doorstep and to have no unsupervised access to anybody aged 17 or less, except for his own son.

He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for seven years and ordered to pay £85 costs.
