ALAN AYCKBOURN’S comedy of manners, Absent Friends, takes to the stage of The Church Barn, Charing, tonight (Thursday), Friday and Saturday, from 7.30pm. The play centres around Diana, who has organised a tea party for Colin, an old friend of her husband Paul. Colin’s fiancee has recently drowned and the aim is to cheer him up with a gathering of old friends – Paul, John and Gordon. However, things do not go according to plan. Tickets for the Charing Guild of Players show, costing £6, can be bought from Wood You Like in School Road, Charing, or by calling 01233 713725.

Further information is available from the guild’s website at www.charing
