Still hope for horse refuge campaign
THE Horse Refuge in Wittersham remains open this week despite the threat of eviction last Friday.
Donations have reached about £300,000 but the same amount again is needed to buy the land and save the 53 neglected and abused horses that live at the Dobell Farm site.
Owner Sara Ross remains hopeful that the refuge can still be saved.
She said: “I’ve been keeping everything crossed that we can raise the money. I’m determined to find a solution.”
The Moons Green venue faced crisis when the land owner said he had to sell.
Ms Ross was told she would need to pay £600,000 for the site. If she fails to buy the land, the horses will all have to be put down.
Donations can be made by calling Sara on 01797 270555 or at www.thehorserefuge.org
