Flute expert shares a few key insights
A FLUTE expert from Hastingleigh, assisted by five of his students, gave a demonstration on how flutes are made and played. Trevor Wye, who runs the Flute Studio, and the postgraduate students displayed their skills at a performance in Wye. The show also included making a flute from a carrot and playing it as well as a display of flutes that were hundreds of years old, including one made from a human fibular bone. The students who performed were Satoko Nishikawa from Japan, Felix Niel from Holland, Soon-Mi Jung from South Korea, Mark Xiao from Australia, and Tomomi Matsuo from Japan. This year’s students are just five of 133 from across the world who have been taught by Mr Wye over the past 23 years.
