A COUPLE from Ashford took something old to visit something new and were put in handcuffs by the boys in blue on their wedding day. Caroline and Jason Rush were married at Kensington and Chelsea Register Office on April 23 and took an old 1958 Routemaster bus to the newly refurbished St Pancras station for a champagne reception. Partying with friends and family, the couple soon fell in with the police, who were only too happy to pose for their wedding snaps – going as far as handcuffing them both together. Rail Europe worker Caroline, 37, said: “I thought it was awesome. St Pancras has been renovated and the architecture there is amazing. Everyone really enjoyed the champagne reception. “I guess the pictures aren’t quite the conventional wedding pictures – I haven’t actually seen them all yet, but we had a great time.” Computer programmer Jason, 34, and Caroline met in 2004 on a night out and “just clicked”. The couple took the Eurostar to Paris before going on to Venice for their honeymoon. The couple’s photographer, Singleton-based Rose Clapton, said: “It was a dream to use a venue like St Pancras as the light is abundant and soft, and although it’s busy, it was a good atmosphere. The police happened to be milling around at the bottom of the escalator and I took a bit of a gamble by asking if they would pose. “They went one better and handcuffed the bride and groom together, to the amazement of other passengers at the station. They were fantastic sports, as were the bride and groom.”
