Swimmer celebrates his silver opportunity
PARALYMPIC swimmer Nicholas Boylan celebrated his silver medal in a national competition with the staff at Asda in Ashford. Asda gave Nicholas £500 from their Sporting Chance scheme which paid for equipment to help towards his training. Nicholas, 25, won the silver medal in the 100m breaststroke at the Disability Swimming British International Championships and returned to the store to thank staff for their backing. He said: “Thanks to the support of Asda Sporting Chance and all my family and friends I am well on my way to achieving my lifelong ambition of competing at the London 2012 Paralympic games.” Emma Smith, Asda Ashford general store manager, said: “Nicholas is an inspiration to all of our colleagues and we look forward to seeing him win more medals in the future.”
To help local supporters keep track of his achievements Nicholas has also started a blog which can be read at http://athletes.asda.com/ nicholasboylan.
