CHANGE OF VENUE IS NO PROBLEM FOR DORIAN AFTER VICTORY IN SEABROOK SEA ANGLERS FIXTURE Angling
SEABROOK Sea Anglers had planned to fish the Hythe Ranges during their midweek evening fixture but, with firing taking place, had to switch to Hythe where the main winners came from the Fisherman’s Beach stretch.
Match winner was Dorian Partridge ahead of Steve Harvey with catches mostly made up of dabs and whiting.
After a bright start, coarse anglers faced winter weather at the weekend with Folkestone & Shepway Angling Club beginning their club match season in heavy rain.
Winner was Pete Joiner from Lyminge who found the carp feeding on the road side and netted 60lb on pole and pellet.
Similar conditions greeted competitors fishing the Cinque Ports Angling Society match at the Prince of Wales stretch of the Royal Military Canal at Palmarsh.
Winner was Paul Musson of Dymchurch with a tench and a bream making up the majority of his 3.400kg.
Second was Chris Pope of Ashford with 2.810kg and third was Hythe angler Mick Jones with 1.940kg.
Musson captured an 18lb 8oz pike on a half mackerel dead bait fishing at Giggers Green on the Romney Marsh section of the canal, where he also found the eels feeding with a best of 2lb 8oz on a dead bait.
Events coming up include a Folkestone SAA beach competition on Sunday with fishing from 7-11pm.
Seabrook and the Fountain angling clubs both have events on Monday – fishing is from 7pm.
