Wanton destruction of eco-friendly landmark

AS I write this, trees outside of our home are being massacred. Our once pleasant outlook has been permanently ruined in less than 48 hours. Contractors have felled mature blossom-loaded trees without a thought for the wellbeing of Meadow Road residents or indeed resident wildlife. These trees were a buffer between our property and the traffic noise from Maidstone Road and the M20. All of this for totally unnecessary alterations to be carried out to the Drovers roundabout. Disruption would have been kept to a minimum if the roundabout had been moved further towards the M20 link road, where there are no buildings whatsoever, residential or otherwise. This option would have reduced the number of trees having to be felled, would have automatically widened Peter Bernstein, Meadow Road, Ashford. have destroyed hundreds of nests together with eggs or nestlings. KCC really must be taken to task for such an insensitive planning strategy. Professor David Hall, Great Chart.
