Thief on bike snatches women’s bags

PO­LICE are ap­peal­ing for wit­nesses af­ter a thief on a black bi­cy­cle snatched two women’s hand­bags in Ash­ford.

A 46-year-old walk­ing to a den­tal ap­point­ment with a friend had her bag snatched from her hand by a young man who rode past them in Beaver Road be­tween 11am and 11.16am on April 26.

Then on May 4 be­tween 1pm and 1.28pm in Kingsnorth Road a 36-year-old woman walk­ing back to work dur­ing her lunch break had her hand­bag con­tain­ing money, bank cards, a mo­bile phone and a diary grabbed by a young man who rode past on a bike.

The bag was later found dumped op­po­site Christ Church school.

The first vic­tim de­scribed the rob­ber as white, aged 18-25, 5ft 5in and slim. He was wear­ing blue jeans and a lu­mi­nous yel­low/ green jacket with the hood up.

The sec­ond vic­tim said the young bag snatcher was wear­ing a grey hoodie with the hood up.
