Cur­tains up on birth­day party tale

WOODCHURCH Play­ers are per­form­ing their lat­est pro­duc­tion Cur­tains at the Woodchurch Me­mo­rial Hall tonight (Thurs­day), to­mor­row (Fri­day) and on Satur­day (May 13-15). The drama, writ­ten by Stephen Bill, is laced with black hu­mour, telling the story of an 86-year-old’s birth­day party, which turns out to be a less than joy­ful oc­ca­sion. Di­rec­tor Bernard Smith – win­ner of the Evening Stan­dard Award for the Most Promis­ing Play­wright – has as­sem­bled an ex­pe­ri­enced cast, in­clud­ing Tina Gal­lagher, Richard Fair, Bryan Deverell, Val Smith, Vivi­enne White, Alan Stamp and Les­ley Boxer. The play is be­ing staged nightly at 7.30pm at the Me­mo­rial Hall.
