Staff stay at cutting edge

Kentish Express Ashford & District - - Family Announcements -

FOUR members of staff who lost their jobs when a hair salon in Hythe closed have been taken on by another business in the town. Bob Kent, owner of Hairways in the High Street, said the stylists had mainly older clients and other salons were not interested in employing them. “Older clients have as much right to have their hair done and we have maintained the continuity for them,” he said. “One lady who comes in every week is 90 and we have quite a laugh with her.” The four members of staff have brought in around 100 clients. Hairways has been in Hythe for 27 years, and Mr Kent believes it is the longest established in the town. He has been in hairdressing for 34 years and also owns Uncle in Bouverie Road West, Folkestone; Evolution in New Romney High Street and salons in Canterbury and Dover.
