Golden girl Megan impresses
ASHFORD Town swimmers returned from the 2010 Kent Championships with 14 medals, six club records and numerous personal bests. Megan Lee became triple county champion taking gold medals in the 14 year girls’ 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke events, breaking four club records in the process. In addition, she gained a further three silver medals, a fourth and two fifth places. Melissa Grace claimed her first county title by winning the 15 year 50m butterfly. She also picked up a bronze, a fourth and a fifth place and two club records. Ashford’s other medal winners were Ciaran Slater who took sixth place in the 200m butterfly and Tom Slater who took sixth place in 200m butterfly. Chloe Law, Jessica Richards, Katie Owen and Roland Simms all qualified to swim, and represented the club well. Stephanie Owen joined Lee, Grace and Richards to swim in the 14/15 year girls’ relay team. Both Lee and Grace have qualified for the South East Region Championships, where they hope to carry on their good form, against the best swimmers in the region. Four gold medals represents Ashford’s most successful county championships for some time.
