Flower show for church repairs fund
A FLOWER festival is being held in Ruckinge to help raise funds to repair the church.
Flowers, plants and other produce will be on sale at the Church of St Mary Magdalene from 10am until 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The church needs to raise £25,000 to repair and redecorate the interior which was damaged after the roof came off in the great storm of 1987.
Parishioner Stuart Cross is going a step further than most to help raise the money by walking 192 miles from coast to coast in two weeks starting on May 30.
Following in the footsteps of fell walker Alfred Wainwright he will be trekking through three national parks, including the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
