School joins the exam boycott
ONLY one school in the area joined the national boycott of SAT exams.
Smeeth Community Primary School was one of just 26 schools in the county which opted not to make its pupils sit the exams last week.
The boycott was organised by the National Union of Teachers and the National Association of Head Teachers who felt the exams put 10-and 11-year-olds under too much pressure. It was also felt the exams stopped schools from teaching a balanced curriculum.
