Village pub serves a lovely pint
CHEERS! A village pub is celebrating after picking up a top beer award.
The Bell Inn at Ivychurch was presented with the Ashford Folkestone & Romney Marsh CAMRA Pub of the Year 2010 award last Thursday by CAMRA branch chairman Paul Meredith.
It’s a major achievement for landlords Mark and Vanda Rolfe as they only entered the trade three-and-a-half years ago and have watched their business grow beyond expectation as a small village freehouse in difficult economic times.
Mrs Rolfe said: “It’s really hard work at times but we do feel a sense of satisfaction when we see happy customers.”
The evening was well attended by friends and customers all keen to toast to the couple’s success.
Mr Meredith said: “The pub deservedly takes the title for the consistent quality of its real ales, with its three regular beers and ever changing two guest ales.
“Pubs were marked on atmosphere, service, sympathy with CAMRA aims, clientele mix and good value. The Bell shone in all areas, offering inexpensive ales, good quality and value food and an excellent welcome at all times.”
The Bell Inn is hosting its first beer festival over the weekend of July 3 and 4.
