THEY came in all shapes and sizes, old ones, new ones and some lovingly refurbished – 78 tractors for a 16-mile charity run which started in Smarden. The annual event last Sunday raised some £1,220 for the Pilgrims Hospice in memory of local man Roy Vidler, who died eight years ago. The procession started from New House Farm and finished at the Flying Horse pub. “We had all sort of tractors,” said Mike Wilson one the event’s helpers. “Some of the old ones are still used on small holdings, while quite a number are kept as a hobby, fully renovated. “The event was organised by my son Mark and William Harding along with many helpers. We are really grateful for all their efforts.”
