DRIVERS who speed though three villages will soon see signs telling them how fast they are going. Volunteers from Chilham, Selling and Old Wives Lees have been trained by police to use portable signs which warn motorists if they are breaking the speed limit. The training took place along a stretch of Selling Road, Old Wives Lees, which has a 30mph restriction, often flouted by drivers. Trevor Vallis, acting chairman of Chilham’s PACT group, said: “The plan is to target parts of the three villages on random days and times so we can monitor the speed of drivers.”
