Town re­cover to chalk up three wins

ASH­FORD Town BC suf­fered a 111-74 de­feat at home to Herne Bay, the For­est of Blean Men’s Triples League cham­pi­ons gain­ing 6.5 points to Town’s 1.5.

Town then trav­elled to Can­ter­bury in the East Kent Mixed Triples League, se­cur­ing six points by win­ning 105-96. Hill Howard, Peter Bal­son and Brian Saxon pro­duced a fine per­for­mance to win 27-15.

There was fur­ther suc­cess for Town with a friendly win at Gate­way (Dover) 94-84.

The third vic­tory in four days was a six-rink suc­cess to de­feat Faver­sham Recre­ation 125-73 to gain eight points in the For­est of Blean League. Josh Ill­man, Ian Payne and Jim Cos won their rink 28-11.

Ill­man, Bradley Pounds and Josh Pounds have been se­lected for the Kent un­der-25s team tri­als at Herne Bay BC.

Ash­ford Rail BC’s Bar­well Fours Com­pe­ti­tion was won by Garry Breeds, Paul Cal­laghan, Steve Miles and Chris Reynolds (skip).

Run­ners-up were Mark Gould, Marie For­tune, Anne Rut­land and Gor­don Samson (skip), while the plate was won by Sylvia Coles, Peter Bright, Andy An­drews and Clive Allen (skip).

Ash­ford Rail lost their open­ing fix­ture at Folke­stone Park but re­cov­ered to win two friendly matches, at Char­ing 109-99 and at home to Faver­sham Recre­ation 123-62.

The high­est win­ning rink against Char­ing was Chris Knapp, Char­lie Hold­away, Dave Woolf and Ken Adams, who se­cured a 42-8 suc­cess.

Rail won the ladies rink 19-13 against Faver­sham.
