Gordon comes out on top in Seabrook rover
THE Seabrook Sea Anglers Association midweek evening competition was won by Paul Gordon of Stone Street.
His catch of 4.94kg from Sandgate beach included dogfish, pouting and whiting.
Second place went to Keiron Bull of Hythe with 4.500kg also at Sandgate and third was Lee Heaver of Folkestone with 4.160kg. Fourth place went to Dorian Partridge with 2.76kg and Cliff Sharp was fifth with 2.72kg.
The competition was organised as a rover, with anglers able to fish anywhere in Shepway.
The Fountain Sea Anglers fished their event as a rover at Dungeness with most anglers crowding around the Point section.
Top weight went to myself with a couple of dogfish plus pouting and whiting for 3.100kg. Second was Michael Warne of Hythe with 2.785kg and third, Andy Friend with 1.820kg.
Ted Davies of Folkestone was fourth on 995g and Herbie Tyler of Cheriton was fifth with 860g.
Open competitions coming up include a South East Open series at Pirate Springs near New Romney on Sunday, May 30, fishing from 11am until 3pm. For details, telephone 07903 391565.
Club events include Folkestone SAA’s open in the Warren on Monday, fishing 7pm until 11pm.
The Cinque Ports Angling Society took on the Maidstone Victoria Angling Club in their annual inter-club competition, this year fished on the Royal Military canal at Aldergate.
Match winner was Chris Pope fishing for Cinque Ports with 3.460kg, who also landed a bonus tench.
Cinque Ports AS took the match with 8.570kg to Maidstone’s 5.980kg.
In Folkestone & Shepway AC’s Thursday League competition at Radnor Park, Pete Joiner of Lyminge took first place with 30lb 8oz of mostly carp.
