Young gym­nasts excel in fi­nals on na­tional stage

EUAN Cox and Fin­lay Lin­coln played lead­ing roles as the South East Re­gion Level 1 squad won the team ti­tle at the Na­tional Set Work Fi­nals in Birm­ing­ham.

Euan, from Sin­gle­ton, and Fin­lay, from Eger­ton, who are mem­bers of Maid­stone’s Pe­ga­sus Gym­nas­tics Club, also en­joyed in­di­vid­ual suc­cess. Nine-year-old Euan won gold, 1.5 marks ahead of Fin­lay (sil­ver), with the high­light his per­fect 10.000 in the par­al­lel bars. Euan also reg­is­tered 8.950 in the floor cat­e­gory, a sec­ond in pom­mel with 9.600, first in rings with 9.500, joint sec­ond in vault on 9.600 and joint first in the high bar with 9.500. Eight-year-old Fin­lay won the pom­mel with 9.700 and en­joyed joint sec­ond place in the vault (9.450) as well as third-place fin­ishes in the floor (9.250) and par­al­lel bars (9.450).
