Barham well off the pace in Ma­jorca

TEN­TER­DEN pro­fes­sional Benn Barham fin­ished joint-54th in the Iber­drola Open Cala Mil­lor in Ma­jorca at the week­end.

Barham, who can only make a limited num­ber of ap­pear­ances on the full Euro­pean Tour this sea­son af­ter fail­ing to re­tain his play­ing card in 2009, recorded an 11-over­par to­tal of 291, 17 shots be­hind the win­ner, Peter Han­son of Swe­den.

TOW­ERS SCHOOL pupil Ge­orge Wool­las­ton won the hand­i­cap sec­tion at the Kent Schools Golf Cham­pi­onship held at Bearsted.

Woolas­ton carded a gross score of 75, net 69. Mark Collins from Home­wood School, Ten­ter­den, had the best scratch score, of 70.

ASH­FORD vet­er­ans’ monthly Stable­ford com­pe­ti­tion was won by Ed­die McDonnell with 39 points. Mike Martin was run­ner-up with 38 pts, while Alan Joynson was third a point be­hind. Ken Feakins, Roy Burt and Brian Am­brose were fourth equal with 36 points.

Sene Val­ley GC were beaten 3.51.5 by North Fore­land in Di­vi­sion 1 of the East Kent Golf League.
