PUPILS from Ashford Oaks Primary School sent a message to the future by burying a time capsule in the grounds of a new pub and restaurant close to their school. Newspapers, letters, drawings, and photographs were included in the capsule buried at the Pheasant, Eureka Park, Ashford. Head teacher Gerry D’Cruz said: “It really challenged the children to think about history by leaving items to be discovered in the future.” A plaque will also be put up at the Pheasant with the date of when the capsule was buried. Will Clough, manager of the Marston’s Inns and Taverns pub, said: “The time capsule is not only a fascinating project for youngsters to take part in, but it’s also quite symbolic for us too. “It marks a place in time for me and all the staff here at the Pheasant and we will all be intrigued to see how things have changed when the capsule is eventually uncovered.”
