Surgery to trial skin care clinics
PATIENTS at Sellindge Surgery will no longer have to travel to hospital for specialist advice and treatment for skin conditions.
Dermatology consultants Dr Kurt Ayerst, from the William Harvey Hospital, and Dr Catriona Irvine, from Kent and Canterbury Hospital, are setting up monthly clinics at the surgery.
Supported by practice nurse Ruth Wright, they will diagnose, treat and monitor skin conditions such as psoriasis, severe eczema and facial rashes. Skin cancer patients will continue to be referred to hospital.
Depending on the success of the six-month trial the clinics could be rolled out across eastern and coastal Kent.
Practice GP Dr Giuseppina Del Bianco said: “This service is good news as it will mean patients are seen more quickly.”
