Blow­ers cen­trestage for com­men­tary on life

A LE­GENDARY cricket com­men­ta­tor will be aim­ing to bowl over his au­di­ence when he takes to the crease at Ten­ter­den’s Sin­den The­atre. Henry ‘Blow­ers’ Blofeld ap­pears at the the­atre on Satur­day as part of a na­tional tour. The show, An Evening With Blow­ers, Caught Short And Grumpy, be­gins at 7.30pm. Henry Blofeld be­gan writ­ing about cricket for The Times in 1962 and has been a jour­nal­ist ever since. He has writ­ten at dif­fer­ent times for most na­tional news­pa­pers. His broad­cast­ing ca­reer be­gan at the start of the seven­ties and in 1972 he joined BBC’s Test Match Spe­cial. He has been a reg­u­lar mem­ber of this fa­mous com­men­tary team ever since and af­ter the de­par­ture of John Ar­lott and Brian Johnston, has be­come the great char­ac­ter of the show.
