FOLKE­STONE’S Mick Tapsell landed three dog­fish and a dab on his way to vic­tory in the Dover Satur­day Se­ries match, fished from the Prince of Wales pier.

He fin­ished ahead of Deal’s Saul Page and Alan Un­der­down of Whit­stable.

Other re­sults in­clude the lat­est Martin Wal­ters Pier event, won by Rowan Lee of Folke­stone. His 6lb catch in­cluded dog­fish, dabs and pout­ing. The club’s Deal Cup was won by Ted Davis with 12lb – all dog­fish.

The Ash­ford Sea Match Group fished their lat­est shore com­pe­ti­tion at the 10th Green beach at Sandown near Deal, Mike Wigston tak­ing the plau­dits with 2.76kg – in­clud­ing heav­i­est fish, a dog­fish of 0.74kg.

Chris James was sec­ond with 1.48kg and Paul Baker third with 770g.

Sev­eral big smooth­hounds to 11lb have been caught, as well as a spec­i­men black bream for Shep­way an­gler Greg Dixon who went to Sus­sex hot-spot Pagham last week­end and found the smooth­hounds feed­ing.

An­other spec­i­men fish re­ported last week was a thorn­back ray of 15.4lb landed by Ash­ford’s Jeff Hymers fish­ing at the Sandown groynes at Deal. In coarse an­gling, there was a record five-hour match weight from the Cot­ting­ton Match lakes at Deal.

Lyminge’s Peter Joiner net­ted an in­cred­i­ble 190lb of carp in the lat­est open match. In the South East Se­ries Rail­way League the day be­fore, the open win­ner was Clive Chap­man with 74lb 8oz.

Coarse fish­ing news in­clude the Folke­stone and Shep­way An­gling Club evening event at Rad­nor Park.

I won with 28lb thanks to a bonus dou­ble-fig­ure com­mon carp ahead of Pete Joiner with 26lb and John Wil­liams of Cheri­ton.

Win­ner of Sun­day’s sil­ver-fish only match was Dar­ren Plum­mer with 23lb 8oz of roach and bream. Stu­art Joy was sec­ond on 10lb 1oz and Kevin Fo­ley third with 8lb 11oz. I was biggest bream pool win­ner with 3lb 7oz.
