Double century partnership sets up win
A PARTNERSHIP of 211 between Alan Stevens and David Fagg helped Mersham Sports maintain their unbeaten start in the Kent Regional League Championship East Chasing Yalding’s daunting 251, Mersham were in trouble at 37-4 after Jumshad Haider had destroyed the villagers’ top order. However, Stevens (109) and Fagg (100) combined to fight back, with Fagg hitting 28 off one over on the way to the threewicket win. The Sunday 1sts – helped by Will Colthup’s 43 – saw off Hollingbourne and the Sunday 2nds beat Macknade by 40 runs. Nick Pullin hit a century for the Sports. The Saturday 2nd fell to a seven-wicket friendly loss to Leeds and Broomfield.
PARAG MADKAIKAR hit an unbeaten 115 to ease Hythe’s Sunday side to a nine-wicket friendly win over Clarion. Chasing Clarion’s 175-6, Madkaikar (115 not) and Sam Butler (63) all but saw Hythe home before the latter fell with victory in sight.
