Via Lucem Continens (Avenue Containing Light), is an artwork commissioned by Stour Valley Arts in 2000 and celebrated on Midsummer’s Eve every year.

In 1999, Polish artist Lukasz Skapski and others planted an avenue of 200 yew trees to frame the setting sun.

Ashford-based Stour Valley Arts organises a picnic at the spot each year and if the weather allows, it makes a spectacular sight.

Although this year it was cloudy that didn’t stop many enjoying the annual ritual.
